All roles are open to all performers 18 and older of all races, genders, and abilities.
Character Descriptions
Sidney Bruhl (male-presenting, 30s - 60s) Polished, dashing, devious, clever playwright. Thinks he’s the smartest man in the room and wants people to know it; is “on stage” even when at home. Has the bulk of the lines in the play, appears in the most scenes.
Clifford Anderson (male-presenting, 18-30s) A student; at least somewhat fit; he is very clever; knows he’s the smartest man in the room and can bide his time to display it; covers it with innocence, affection, and naïveté. Has the bulk of the lines in the play, appears in the second-most scenes.
Myra Bruhl (female-presenting, 40s - 60s) Sophisticated, upper-class, but embraces the country life; innocent, sweet, caring, emotional, nervous, even skittish, supportive of Sydney’s career and moods but grows some backbone when he crosses the line.
Helga ten Dorp (female-presenting, 30s or older) Psychic, wild, individual, in and out of her world and this world; knows she’s a celebrity and buys into the show of her gift; has a Dutch, German, Polish, Russian, or other Eastern European accent; is disarming and brave when faced with pain and violence.
Proctor Milgrim (male-presenting, 30s or older) Professional, solid, observant lawyer.
